STAND UP FOR JUSTICE!

If you want to live in a world where you are free to walk down the street and feel what you want to feel, dress as you want to dress, love who you want to love, live how who want to live, and do so FREE from discrimination, bullying, fear and violence then STAND UP. If someone tries to silence you, SPEAK LOUDER. If someone tries to push you down PUSH HARDER. FUCK bullies! Stand up not just for yourself, but for everyone around you!

Where is the criminal responsibility? There were witnesses in those halls and in the school bus where Jamie was tormented! Be brave and speak up and seek justice! At the very least, these bullies deserve Juvenile Dentention.. and at the most 5, 10 or 14 years in prison!

The Canadian Criminal Code states under section 222
"222. (1) A person commits homicide when, directly or indirectly, by any means, he causes the death of a human being.
(b) by criminal negligence;
(c) by causing that human being, by threats or fear of violence or by deception, to do anything that causes his death; or
(d) by wilfully frightening that human being, in the case of a child or sick person."

This means the bullies!

Further, in section 219 and 220:
"219. (1) Every one is criminally negligent who
(a) in doing anything, or
(b) in omitting to do anything that it is his duty to do,
shows wanton or reckless disregard for the lives or safety of other persons.
220. Every person who by criminal negligence causes death to another person is guilty of an indictable offence and liable... (b) in any other case, to imprisonment for life."

This includes the school bus driver, any teachers or people in authority, or other bystanders who were witness to or aware of the bullying!

These kind of incidences have happened often enough that it is time to ENFORCE our laws and bring social and criminal ACCOUNTABILITY to our school system!

Rockin' In The Village

So I haven't posted a blog in a while... but thought I'd share how pleased I am with the Blue Mountain Village! Not only is it a great place to vacation, but they've got some kickin' concerts going on... Just this Saturday passed I got to see the band 54-40 there! The Watchmen opened for them, which was pretty cool, but grooving to 54-40 is what really made my weekend. They played some of my old favorites, like "Ocean Pearl", and the frontman chatted it up with the audience and voiced his feelings on war which I wholeheartedly agree with i.e. Bring our boys back!!

If you're in the Georgian Triangle area, head up to the Village and check out the talent.

Tips For Getting (and Keeping) That Job!

Facebook is a popular internet application that we are all familiar with, but did you know that more people might be accessing it than you realize? Specifically, potential employers! In fact employers are more and more likely to Google your name and locate your Facebook profile, Twitter updates and yes, even your Blogs! Here's some useful tips to avoid incriminating yourself on Facebook while you are looking for that dream job:
- adjust your privacy level so that only your friends can see your info
- untag yourself from unflattering (ie. partying) photos other people have posted
- go through your own photos and remove incriminating photos
- check what groups you belong to and remove yourself from groups that an employer may find offensive
- delete your posts and status updates that contain excessive swearing
When it comes to Twitter and blogging, make sure you only post information that you would feel comforatable having broadcast to everyone you know, including employers. Because if everyone else is on board with technology and the internet, then you better believe your future employers are too!
Good luck!
